In what could be the biggest lease of the year, global IT giant Plano-based NTT Data Services (OTC: NTDTY) has signed a lease for 232,000 square feet in The Campus at Legacy West — bringing its Plano Parkway team closer towards its North American headquarters in Legacy West.
The deal will relocate up to 1,000 NTT Data employees from its Plano Parkway campus to The Campus at Legacy West, which is also occupied by J.C. Penney Company Inc. (NYSE: JCP). The move is expected to occur in phases through April 2018.
“We wanted to bring our Plano team members closer together — the drive between our Legacy West HQ and the Plano Parkway office could easily take 30 minutes or more,” said Corie Pierce, a spokeswoman for NTT Data. “Now, employees will be able to walk between buildings and more easily work together in person.
“We also wanted both buildings to have a more consistent look and feel, and for employees now at Plano Parkway to have a more modern, full-service campus similar to the new headquarters.”
Along with the newly leased office space, NTT Data will also have expansion rights for additional space in The Campus at Legacy West.
Steve Jarvie, Damian Rivera and Darren Woodson of Dallas-based ESRP represented NTT Data in the deal.
John Conger and David Quisenberry of Colliers International marketed the space on behalf of developer Sam Ware, whose company acquired the 25-year-old campus last year. Retail giant J.C. Penney still operates its corporate offices in roughly half of the property, which was renamed The Campus at Legacy West upon its acquisition by Ware’s development team.
In June, the Japanese IT services giant expanded its lease by 25,343 square feet for a total of 152,058 square feet of office space spanning floors eight to 14 in the office tower. This office serves as its North American headquarters.
