Michael Travis President
Michael Travis, D.D.S., was born and raised in southern Missouri. He began taking extended bicycle
trips in the late 70s and it was during one of those trips, while camped on the beach in Greece, that
he decided to move to Boulder to prolong his childhood (and establish his career). Influenced
by his experiences with his close college buddy who became a quadriplegic due to an accident and faced a new
life of what he couldn't do, in 1982, Michael began working with ESRP to learn about what a person
with a disability COULD do. He hasn't missed a season since, has served on the Board of Directors
since the mid 80s, and has held the position of President during most of that time. In 1988 Michael
started Alpine Dentistry, Inc., where he later met a cute young patient named
Stacey. They married in 1996 and have two sons,
Ryan and Cade. Michael has worked with dentistry for the handicapped for over 20 years and takes on
many pro bono cases throughout the year with Dental Aid and the community at large. Over the years he
has combined his passion for travel and delivering dental services in third world countries by distributing
supplies and training local medics in Mexico, Central America, French Polynesia, Africa, Cuba
and Thailand. |
